  The Senate Commerce Committee advanced legislation Wednesday to permanently ban Chinese-linked vehicles and technology from the U.S. market. The Connected Vehicle Security Act of 2026, S.4429, bars companies with more than 15% Chinese ownership from selling vehicles in the United States.<br><br>The bill, introduced by Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) and Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) in April, would permanently bar the importation, manufacture, sale, and resale of connected vehicles, software, and hardware tied to China, Russia, Iran, or North Korea.

  Imagine if a company made a dependable car or truck that was easy to repair and had a base model for less than $20k. Now that&apos;s what I want. Not all that pointless technical technology that does nothing but cost more.

  Can we just dump the tech obsession in cars already?<br>I don&apos;t want the new American cars, and I dont want the chinese cars either.<br>Buttons, knobs, and no more modems.

  The reason American cars can’t compete is because they don’t want to. It’s more profitable for the suits to do what they do and lose than to build cars Americans want and need.

  Why aren’t the auto companies required to pay the car owner for the data it collects? Car owners should be paid $10 per mile of generated data. We, the car owners, are the product. We should be paid for the data we generate. Same for Tesla… every FSD user should be paid for the data generated and used to train future models. How is it the driver pays for the car, pays for the fuel / electricity, pays for the software, generates the data and receives no compensation for the data created?

  In 1967, I had a 1948 Ford pickup truck. &nbsp;It had everything I wanted except air conditioning. &nbsp;It did NOT monitor my driving habits, and I haven&apos;t had an at-fault collision in 59 years (my whole life). &nbsp;What&apos;s this about my government wanting to improve that for me?
