  The sad irony of this was Lumumba asked the UN for help handling the growing Katanga issue in its infancy but was rebuffed, being told that it was an internal matter, only for Lumumba to perish in the Katanga region, and for a post-Dag Hammarskjold UN to find itself completely dedicated and immersed in quelling the Katanga rebellion, and costing so many lives in the process.

  As a Congolese living outside my birth country, in fact outside my Continent. This here is a goldmine that I happened to stumble upon during my search and after watching &quot;THEFT OF THE CONGO&quot; &nbsp;for the totality of Congolese history through and through.   As a Surgeon I wondered why a difficult procedure is called “Katanga”. The Congo problem &nbsp;reminds me of a nuclear fission- I can see how it started, but where it is headed for is unpredictable!!
