There was actually an official Sonic fighting game called Sonic the Fighters. It was released in arcades in 1996, and got a home release on Gamecube and PS2 in 2005. Then it got rereleased for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012.

It included a character named Honey the Cat, who is based on a character from another Sega fighting game, Fighting Vipers. She was only playable through hacking in the original release, but was made actually playable in the 2012 re-release.

The game also includes a unique variant of Metal Sonic called Rocket Metal, which is only ever seen during the game's intro. He is also only playable through hacking, but unlike Honey, he wasn't made actually playable in a later release.

This game also marks the first appearance of Bark the Polar Bear and Bean the Dynamite.

Honey, Bark, and Bean would all go on to make various appearances in the comics. Bark and Bean would also make cameo appearances in Sonic Mania, as well as a couple other games.

43:25. You get points for the SMBZ reference. The remake series is goated too. I still pray for it to continue

This video was my first time seeing annjelife and i love her creative android hedgehog design of amy rose with the chill but seductive personality of rouge the bat and annjelife is a funny and chill gal and her being a sonic fan is an added plus of radical awesomeness

Ah man, mentioning SMBZ brought back a wave of nostalgia! I still remember how hype the battle on Yoshi's Island was!
