I don't think you noticed but... On eRmA gUrDy's description it says that on his "eRmA" form, they live together, the monster gives the little creatures a place to live, and the creatures make the sounds they sing. But on their "gUrDy" form, their eyes starts to disolve, so he use the creatures on their body as their eyes, without the creatures wanting it. Then the creatures tried escaping forming gUrDy's "teeths", that the monster uses to make sounds now. Also you can see that there's only 2 out of the 3 creatures forming the gUrDy's eyes, because one tried escaping but ended up dying, and now it's body is stuck on eRmA gUrDy's leg, as you can see it. It surely is a dark history for those little fellas!

At 1:47 the poster says “eRmA gUrDy ThE FEELing iS mUtUAL” alluding to the not so mutual relationship between minor eRmA gUrDy and the bugs inside him. In the major form the eRmA gUrDy acts as a shelter for the bugs inside, but on the minor form the eRmA gUrDy’s eyes melt, and he forces the bugs to be his eyes. The bugs do not want to do this, and one of them tries to escape but fails and dies at the bottom of the eRmA gUrDy.

My mom walked in when Nenna said “nobody likes me everyone is afraid of me…” and she looked genuinely concerned
