My friend Coy Carter who is now deceased, was there with the 1st Cav He talked about coming through the Panama on the ship he said it was a long hot ship ride to Vietnam. He also told me about the Battle of Ia Drang Valley he said that if it wasn't for the artillery and the air support they would have been over ran over and over. These guys fought like hell and we're damn near out of ammunition most of the time they didn't have any food and they didn't really have water. I forget if it was three nights in 2 days but he told me that was their early experience in Vietnam. I'm so glad to hear the stories of these men we need to know it! They sacrificed so much for us and I really am grateful to hear Mr Blackwells story. Coy was on a mortar platoon with the 1st Cav.

❤️This new upload auto-played as I finished the audiobook "Conan:Beyond the black river" in Starbucks and the intro music brought me so much joy and made my eyes begin to well up. So excited for this new interview!!!

I have watched so many of your videos. This is the first time I’ve seen one that was JUST posted. Such an awesome man Charles is and what a story he tells. My Uncle was among the first Marines to land in Vietnam. He was killed within the first two weeks in country. I was named after him. Feel honored. Always was told I had big shoes to fill. Bless all out veterans. And the US. Thanks Larry. You’re awesome

A excellent recall of 1965 vietnam. This gentleman knows what was going on. His opinion on lack of use of surveillance is right on. The start of fta.
