Don’t apologize for long videos. Some people need them.

It would really help a lot of people if they would have just learned that amillennialism is historically a flavor/faction within postmillennialism (or that they both come from the same proto-postmillennial tree). Many Presbyterians, assume amillennialism as the historic bedrock of the issue, the history is actually much more varied. This is a similar impulse as premil-dispys who can't imagine any hermeneutic for Revelation other than futurism.

Postmillennialism is a historically protestant perspective. There is no denying it.

I think for many of us, when we were first become Christians, someone put a schofield study Bible in our hands and we then get to spend the rest of our days undoing it all.

As a Postmil myself, I really appreciated the fair assessment here. It’s rare for non-Postmils to be fair towards Postmillennialism and not jump into strawmen arguments.

The amount of theological works and Puritans and such have become so much more widely available and distributed. Groups like Reformation Heritage Books, Banner of Truth and such are a wonderful resource. This has changed greatly since even the 90s.

I became s Christian in 1972 and began reading the Bible for the first time. I did not grow up going to church so I read the Bible without many presuppostions or denominational biases.

I basically came to an amilleniel position. It was about 5 years later that I found out it had a name.

One thing that has lingered in my thinking is Jesus's parting words in Matthew 28:18-20 and in Acts one.

These final instructions seem very optimistic and I have wondered why He would leave the Church with these instructions if he didn't expect them to be accomplished.

Ken Gentry has done some of the best partial-Preterist/ postmillennial work.

Also - the identification of Postmil with Liberalism may be a result of the misunderstanding of dispensationalists.

Again, I'm historical premillennial- but some elements of postmillennialism still ring true if you don't obsesss over timelines, trying to fit current events into every prophesy, and post-rapture speculation. And there is some sense that the idealistic view of Revelation makes sense in light of historical antichrists like Nero, Mohammed, the papacy, Communism, Liberalism, and the cults.

What gets you in trouble, and marginalizes you is when you get dogmatic about an eschatological view, when you clearly don't have enough scriptural evidence to justify it.

Thankful for the clear gift of teaching you have! Just hyped this video (whatever that means). Glad to do it though and praise the Lord for His glorious Kingdom. May He rule in the midst of His enemies until all of them are made His footstool!
