  Idea: what if Guide is the spectre? Guide is betrayed somehow by the other guy in the portrait, gets godlike powers, the other guy in the portrait was like, friends or smth with all the survivors, or was at least fond of them, so Guide has them killed over and over again. But hey, that’s just a theory!
