  Mobile needed this 20 years ago. The current Bayway bridge and that tunnel is entirely too small for the traffic volume.

  It's very much needed. I was once 2 hours late for a flight due to an accident in the tunnel. You have no way out, no other option but to sit and wait.

  I've lived in Alabama my entire life. Also my entire 34 years of life, I-65 has been under construction in the exact same areas where they've been trying to expand it. They've made it about twenty miles in all that time. I wouldn't get your hopes up for this project to be complete in our lifetime.

  Local fuel hauler here. Hazmat loads are NOT required to go into downtown Mobile in order to get around the tunnel. All you have to do when heading west is get off at the Govt street exit 27, go around and over the Africatown Bridge, then get on i65 to 65 then back to i10. You CAN go thru the CBD, and I often do at night when traffic is light, but it's not required.

  Its not that the tunnel is constrained.  It's that everyone who drives through the area acts like they've never seen a tunnel before and slams on their brakes. Then traffic stays backed up afterwards

  I've been waiting for them to break ground for years. Lord willing, they'll actually start the project so we can take some of the heat off of our tunnels.

  The biggest bottleneck in the gulf I-10 corridor is on I-10 east just after the Mississippi river bridge in Baton rouge.<br><br>All traffic merges into a single lane that becomes an on ramp to where I-10 turns south towards New Orleans<br><br>Not even sure it&apos;s fixable given the layout and location

  We need the bridge real bad, it took me three hours to get to Gulf Shores from Mobile, way too long!!!

  I literally just got back from fishing the delta, every time the bridge is backed up some days you’ll think there’s an accident until you get up there and realize the tunnel is what causes the backing up I don’t even know why. As soon as you get out it’s o wide open but going through the tunnel is hell for no apparent reason ..

  It’s going to be absolutely game changing for us residence. Traffic is so terrible every single day. Especially if you live in Baldwin County and work in Mobile County.

  I’m just waiting for the day they replaced the bridge in Lake Charles a part of highway ten. The thing has a safety rating of two.

  I thought they had already broke ground but google says October. I live and work in mobile. My work has been building parts and structures for this project since January I believe.
