  That is true about the "carbon credits" the EPA gives the OEMs for longer service intervals on the oils.

  I’ve been working in this industry for 49 years the old saying is still true pay me now or pay me later!! Oil change is the cheapest maintenance you can get!!!

  Most manufacturers don’t require transmission service but the maker of the transmission does recommend it

  I'm big fan of the 5K oil change. I'm a fleet mechanic and maintain 29 of the same make and model truck. In 2020 we went from 5K oil change intervals to 7.5K intervals to try and cut costs. According to the manufacturer7.5K is the recommended service interval. Since doing so we've noticed a increase in oil consumption and have been having issues with premature cam shaft wear and premature main bearing failures. I replaced 2 GM L96 6.0's last year with less than 150K on the clock With 5K oil change intervals over the 10 years I worked there we were averaging 300K without any major issues. Same engines same oil same driving conditions only thing that changed was the service interval. Hopefully someone pulls their head out of their ass and we go back to a 5K service interval. I get paid by the hour and I'd much rather do a few extra PM's than rebuild or replace a engine.

  I do 5k oil changes with full synthetic. The people who tell you that you're wasting your money won't give you a dime when your engine tanks.  I just turned 100k miles on my 2020 Ford Transit Connect with a 2.0L. It burns no oil and if you look inside the oil fill hole it looks like brand spanking new. Started out using Pennzoil ultra platinum but have switched to Valvoline restore and protect because it's more readily available from the store. I drain 4qts of fluid from the transmission and fill with fresh every 20k miles. I do my own work and love to take the time to keep my machine running in tip top shape.

  74 yr old  retired mechanic. Amen amen amen Change that oil. I use full synthetic and change it at about 5K.

  Good video. You touched on all the key issues. As a retired GM Master Certified Mechanic I would love to comment, but for some reason my comments get pounced on. Highway driving is easy on vehicles. Start/Stop with cold engine is hard on them. In 50 + years of driving I have owned 5 vehicles, last 3 were purchased new. 1990 Chev pickup has over 350k miles on it. Doing preventive maintenance pays off. Have a nice day.

  I worked for a lubricant manufacturer, including motor oils.  High temperature causes oil to breakdown, that’s why synthetic is best. Depending on your driving conditions synthetic oil should be fine for 5,000 miles in city driving and 7,500 for highway. That said, cheap oil filters may not last for 5,000 miles, so be sure to use a good one. Personally, I change oil and filter every 5K and rotate the tires at the same time.

  This guys is becoming my FAVORITE automotive YouTuber. I can tell he knows what he’s talking about and he is unbiased. <br><br>I was told my 2nd Gen Cruze ran the best on full synthetic amsoil (which is true) and that I didn’t need to change my oil until 7.5k miles (which isn’t true). I would wait until 5k miles my first few years of ownership and I could only drain like 1-2 quarts of oil when I would change my oil! My 2021 Tahoe does the same thing. I am doing 3k mile oil changes from now on. The most ai will wait from now on is 4k miles, max!
