I couldn't find much history on this old farmhouse other than it was built in around 1880 so if anybody has any more info on the place please let us all know 👍

I’d adopt a big dog and take him along with you on your travels…you would feel much safer and have the perfect company

Many many years ago I lived in a little cottage in Ireland with no water or electricity. We had oil lamps, candles, a fireplace for turf, dry loo. We were careful of where we put furniture or things we might need in the dark. When living with the dark is a permanent state of affairs, rather than a single night or two, you get used to it and it becomes second nature. Most of us nowadays, me included, are so used to having dazzling light whenever we want it that we don’t need to prepare for the dark. When there’s no electricity in a home there’s a different quality to the silence (no residual hum from fridges etc) that is quite beautiful. I loved lying in bed listening to the curlews flying over. Thanks for your relaxed and interesting video. Subscribed!

That bothy looks pretty nice, but I couldn't cope with the uncertainty that someone could come through the door at any moment, I'd never be able to relax.

I live in a Welsh cottage, on a farm enveloped by a forest in the middle of hills, it is just like this one, we do still have a little wooden outhouse but we thankfully have a bathroom indoors haha we are only on grid for electricity, firewood for heat and a well for water supply. It was funny when you mentioned not hearing noise from inside, Welsh cottage stone walls are thick, the ones in my own house are almost a meter wide, I wouldn't change where I live for the world, I really enjoyed this video and glad you enjoyed it there!

Always fascinates me how people back in the day used to live in these remote cottages/bothies, especially when it comes to food supplies. I mean its not just a quick trip down the road for a bottle of milk and a loaf of bread, but more living off the land

I lived in a one room cabin at the foot of steep cliffs. I crossed over the creek bridge that was on the other side of the cabin to get to it. It was built in the 1800's and the water was piped in from the creek. I had a wood stove, no fireplace. It was a peaceful place. 10 miles either direction to the nearest little village. No neighbors. I enjoyed watching the cranes come land in the creek while I watched from my little window or from the little courtyard similar to the one in this bothy. Oh, actually there was an fireplace outside in that courtyard, but I never used it. I did have a couple of spooky nights, but overall it was a treasure.

You thought it was creepy - imagine some weary travellers approaching last night only to see a spooky candle moving around the bedrooms and coming downstairs!!

As a teen, I moved to a house in a cemetery. The first weeks of that were terrifying. That gave way to tranquility. The only sounds at night were hedgehogs and nature, occasionally some idiot teens would rock up in a car and dare each other to go in amongst the tomb stones, sometimes I'd pop up from behind one and see the reaction - which was generally an olympic-style and terrified exit by them. Once in a while the church would be left unlocked; I'd sit in it in the dark inside for a bit. Didn't much enjoy that but in all the years could never report seeing a ghost. Happy days.
