I think people don't appreciate the action genre as much as they did in the 80's and 90's

Hollywood has burned every bridge with everyone who can do action.

Look at Scott Adkins. Look at Joe Taslim.

I saw Merantau in college and was like, "Man, this random dude is GOOD." I thought he was some big Indonesian star or something, he just commands the screen and was incredibly skilled. Just learned from this video that it was his first movie, which is incredible. Going to watch it again!

The Night Comes for Us is super underrated and the final fight low key rivals the kitchen fight in Raid 2 as one of the coolest and intense 1v1s. Joe Taslim is also criminally underutilized in Hollywood (like Uwais) and has some banger fights under his belt.

As a penchak silat practitioner, I'm grateful for what Iko and Gareth Evans did with the raid..I tought Penchak Silat in France back in 2010 and these movies really put this Indonesian martial arts on the map..they wanted to learn because they see some moves they hadn't seen in their life before..good memories 😅

I remember going to see The Raid in theaters. It blew my mind what I was seeing with regards to martial arts in an action movie. It felt like when I watched Legend of Drunken Master for the first time.
We need more Iko

As always, Great Video Marcus. Keep it up

Finally someone talking about this guy, he deserved more recognition as well as the movies especially the raid 1 and 2

Thank you for making Iko Uwais' video... He didn't become more lead in action films, I think because our country are more interested in horor films rather than action... I think during 2010-present, we only got 10-15 action films, while we got 500 horor films.
