If you were alive in the 60s when Japanese made TVs were being sold in local discount stores you probably bought one because of the superior picture and reliability.

Later in the 80s many popular consumer electronics brands in Germany went bancrupt because Japan could sell newest technologies at an affordable price. German manufacturers missed to go with the technology and made their business as usual hoping customers stranding to the brand for traditional reasons.<br>Telefunken, Grundig, AEG and so on are still self sticking labels for common China stuff nowadays.

Japan has been on a <i>wartime</i> footing since about 1905. They have a hardcore attitude of Japan Industry versus The World.
