I am growing old and I have been an avid gardener for over 40 years. I often worry about what will become of my garden after I am gone. I've dedicated thousands of hours of hard work in creating my garden and I have some beautiful flowers I'd hate to see just left to die. The thought of someone "haunting" a place because she was upset they tore up her rose tree appeals to me.

Had a really odd experience college. A friend's grandmother had to move out her house (and out of state) due to illness. The house was near our campus, so my friend being on the only family member left in town, would go and check on the house. Her grandfather had died in the house many years before, and since then the house had had felt weird to her - not bad or evil, just weird. A some point, the house was rented to a friend - briefly. After about a month, he left and wouldn't really say why - just that it was creepy. A few months later, myself and another friend were going to stay at the house. In case you are wondering, it still had electricity, all the furniture, and was quite livable. Which is why my friend kept checking on the house. Anyway, that night there were 3 of us. We picked two bedrooms that had a door between them. The room we were in also had a door that lead to a laundry room and then into living room. Not long after we went to bed, I heard footsteps. I thought it was our other friend... but then I heard him snoring. Then I heard the door knob rattle. I looked over at my friend in the room, and there was enough light to see that her eyes where wide open and she was staring at me. As we stared at each other, we heard the door start to open. We did the little kid thing, and pulled the blankets over our heads. I heard footsteps walking to the door between the two rooms, and then heard door open. I was sharing the bed with the friend in the room with me, so I knew where she was. We could hear our other friend snoring as all this was happening. So it wasn't him and there was no one else in the house. I couldn't stand it, and threw the blanket back. There was no one there, but all the doors to the room were open. The rest of the night was quiet, but long. We figured that it was probably the ghost of our friend's grandfather. So after that - yes, we continued to go to the house - we would call out the grandfather's name, introduce ourselves and say why we were there, and we'd also tell him how his wife was doing and other things happening in his family. After that, for the most part, we never really experienced anything like that again. You still didn't really feel alone, but it didn't feel creepy anymore. It did sort of feel like your grandparent's house. Other stuff did happen later, and I actually house sat for two months over a summer, and that didn't go well. But that a story for another time. (Part 2 posted in the comments if you are interested.)

I can take standing, running, moaning, gliding, even floating, but crawling down the dang hallway!?! Tell it to the back of my head because that's all you're going to see of me as I run out the door, down the road, and all the back to America without my luggage! 😮

When you said about " the Mac Donald's " being bothered I immediately said " Could the lodge be on old Campbell land ? " . I was gob smacked when the Campbell name turned up in the building history. A lot of stress and unfinished issues there I thought.

I’ve never felt so sad for a ghost before until this story. There’s just something so lonely and sad about an old lady roaming the house alone at night not knowing what has happened to her rose tree and later her house.

Well done. The story is touching but sad and the music added to the melancholy.

This story was actually really sad. It’s a shame they didn’t have someone come to the house to help the old woman pass over and be at peace. Her soul sounds lonely, afraid and confused. And now the house is gone , yet, still wanders the grounds in even more confusion as to what happened to her house! 😢

When you said they demolished it , it made me feel very sad 😢 I always find it fascinating how spirits are like radio waves somehow . One person will not see/hear/feel them where others ; who are able ( for whatever reason) to tune into their particular radio waves will. I had a very strange experience in powderham castle in Devon , which perfectly underlines this phenomenon. On a tour with a guide , my husband and roughly 8 or so other people ( all strangers to us) we reached an area upstairs in the castle where we had to walk through an arch which passed through the thick castle walls and onto a landing leading to a staircase to the lower floor . My now ex husband, stopped dead at the entrance and said “ mother and baby bricked up in this wall” quietly to me . Literally seconds later we began to hear the horrific , heart wrenching, whaling sound of a woman and I ( an empath) felt an overwhelming, terrible, desperate sadness and horror . As I looked around at the strangers in the group , I noticed around 4 or so other members looking absolutely horrified and shaken . One woman went as white as a sheet . And one of us asked the guide if they played sounds to scare people and he assured as that they don’t . Weirdest thing , he then went on to explain that the entrance we just walked through had been the place where … you guessed it … a woman and her baby had been walled up alive in the wall and the skeletons had been found during repairs and given a proper burial. Half of those people on the tour seemed completely oblivious to the whaling and feelings etc and half were very clearly experiencing the same as my ex and I .

I can attest that an adult crawling creeps people out. In 2012, I had a very bad fracture of my left ankle (distil tibia) and, once I left the hospital and came home, there was no way for me to get about beside crawling. There was no room in my tiny studio house for a wheelchair and my shoulders could not bear the strain of my weight for crutches. So, I would crawl about to get to my bed, chair, and bathroom. During this time, I was tortured with pain from undiagnosed gallbladder stones and spent much time in the ER of my local hospital. A few of the people there who saw me crawl absolutely wigged out. So did some in the rehabilitation center where I was relearning to walk (and triggered some interesting memories from when I was a toddler), although all admitted it was good exercise for me. I can't at all explain why this anti-crawl feeling exists.

We've been on a day out last summer and walked all over the grounds attached to the property...very strange feeling ..and we knew nothing about any paranormal goings on !

The crawling part really gave me goosebumps 👀 currently got the house lit up like Blackpool to combat the creepy feeling 😂

I would haunt them too, if they would ruin my roses.
