When Ned said, "next time I see you we'll talk about your mother" I just now realized that he was only willing to tell him after he renounced all claims to titles and lands, knowing only then it'd be safe to do so.

The dragons for sure knew he was Targaryen. Also I think it’s no coincidence that the dragon Jon ended up riding was the one named after his true father

In Ned's sake, if my siblings had children, they are also my children. They are bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh. Ned clearly felt that.

Tyrion to Jon in Season 1: "Wear your bastard position like an armor." It was actually a lie of armor to protect Jon safe from the truth.

Ned not telling cat the truth was the keystone to everyone believing his story. If he had told her the truth and she treated Jon differently, suspicions would be raised

Its really funny ned said "ill tell you about your mother next time we meet". The next time Jon was next to Ned was in neds tomb. What happened when Jon made it to neds tomb? Sam told him his lineage, so in retrospect, ned told Jon about his mother. It blows my mind that no one can see that

4:50 she would have told Littlefinger, because she was way too naive to believe their childhood relationship would make him reliable to keep the secret. However, Petyr Baelish would have told Jon Arryn; hence, the hand of the king would have spilled the beans to Robert, and Robert would have chased after Jon.
