Check out Safar Publishing's books on Soviet Airborne Forces equipment during the Cold War:
https://www.safar-publishing.com/product-page/vdv
https://www.safar-publishing.com/product-page/uniforms-and-history-of-the-soviet-ariborne

2:15 Clarification: The explosive filler figure given for the 122mm howitzer shell is OF56, which was not widely available until the late 1980s. Shells available at the time of Nona-S's introduction included OF462 and OF24 which had 3.67kg and 3.97kg of filler respectively

I think biggest thing making Nona better then other vehicles in BMD family is fact that it being mainly indirect weapon means that it doesn't have to rely on that paper thin aluminum armor.

To anyone interested in Late Cold War TOE & Units of the Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact I would suggest the FM-100-2 series of manual written by the US Army

9:35 my grandpa participated in this operation. Later he was a commander of artillery of 98th Airborne Divison in 2000 during Second Chechen War until he was injured and retired.
