Kareena, Ananya & Kalyani on Power, Risk & Being Real | Women In Entertainment | THR India

Three women. Three distinct voices. One conversation that didn't hold back. Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ananya Panday, and Kalyani Priyadarshan — Natural in their power. Real in their convictions. Timeless in the way they'll be remembered. In this Hollywood Reporter India cover conversation, Kareena, Ananya, and Kalyani sat down with editor Anupama Chopra to talk about what power really means to them — presence on screen, the freedom to choose your stories, and the ability to make a difference. From Kareena's 25-year career of risk-taking that began with Chameli and continues through The Buckingham Murders, to Ananya learning to speak up on set after watching Deepika Padukone's quiet strength on Gehraiyaan, to Kalyani redefining what a female-led blockbuster looks like with Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra — the conversation moved between the deeply personal and the industry-wide. They spoke about the hypermasculine era of Indian cinema, the lack of fun female-driven scripts, and why more women writers behind the camera could change everything in front of it. The three also got candid about failure, validation, and the exhausting performance of being a public woman. Kareena opened up about Tashan breaking her heart while giving her the love of her life, about owning her age at 46 and refusing to be boxed by ageism. Ananya talked about how Liger's social media fallout taught her to manage expectations and distance herself from outcomes she can't control. Kalyani shared how growing up watching her father Priyadarshan navigate the highs and lows of the industry shaped her own relationship with cinema. They debated work hours, set boundaries, the pressure of airport looks, and the one thing they all agreed on — nobody should be talking while a shot is on. The March issue of THR India's magazine that features The Women In Entertainment 2026 Powerlist in partnership with De Beers is available on stands now. 00:00 Introduction 06:08 Learning to speak up on set 12:07 Can actresses have it all? 19:47 Kareena's masterclass on aging fearlessly 25:30 Where are the great women's roles? 32:10 Balancing work hours and motherhood 38:43 Taking risks and staying independent 45:22 Social media toxicity and missing empathy 51:38 Each actor's unique creative process 56:49 The failure that broke their heart #THRIndia #WomenInEntertainment #PowerList2026
