Repairability is why I mostly stick with Vorons. Endlessly repairable, and updateable.

I am very worried that we are going to lose shared knowledge, skills and empowerment that 3d printing has brought to the world. I am lacking skills to build a voron, lacking budget for a prusa so i'm thinking of converting to sovol... I would be all for online 'repairshops' where you pay a fee to get help with the reparation. I understand low cost printers cannot include such a service, but at least they shouldn 't exclude the possibility. How we spend our money is our only say in this. Love your show ♥️

I'd like to see a build plate printed out of PEI ;)

I'm all for right to repair. It's not just about your ability to fix your printer yourself - it's also about your ability to have a shop fix it. It's not just printers, either - it's also about your ability to go to a local electronics repair shop and get your PC or phone fixed. It's also about your ability to go to a local mechanic to get your car fixed. It's also about the price of groceries in your local grocery store.

No, I'm not kidding about the price of groceries thing - one of the biggest battles over right to repair has been between John Deere and farmers. Farmers need to get their tractors, combines, etc onto the field quickly when harvest time comes, and missing the window for harvest can mean reduced yield or even a failed crop. The faster they can get their equipment repaired and back on the field, the better chance of a good yield. Often that means a nearby third party repair or even a self-repair. Unfortunately, with modern machines having modern electronics with modern software - it's often the case that the electronics and software can be locked down, and John Deere has been doing exactly that. So they have to wait for John Deere, who has also been really slow to get technicians out and might not have somebody nearby, to come over to get their machines running. Having the right to repair in this case - is actually critical to our food supply.

So yes, I think right to repair is important.

I hate throwing away stuff when just a tiny thing breaks that I can't fix. It doesn't matter how much the whole thing costs.

For me right to repair easily is just after reliability. That part of my 3D printer knife sharpener, The Stone Rocker. Build solid but when something break you fix it and keep it working.

I honestly didn't realize Qidi and Bambu Labs made it so difficult to repair their machines. While I don't tend to modify my machines, it's nice to know my Creality printers can pretty much be torn apart and rebuilt at will.

Those 3 in PEI might make a cool display at one of the shows as is as a physical delonstration of wet filament.

I have a Voron and an Old FlashForge. The Voron hands-down has the best reparability of the machines in my garage.

I don't know that I'm ambitious enough for a Voron build, more for lack of time than being scared of wiring, but repairability is something that's up on my priorities list when looking at printers. I say that as someome with the privilege that I can afford to pay more to get something i can fix if it goes south, I know that's not most people's situation, and the reality is the ability to fix something costs money. Companoes can put together something that'll work until it doesn't at low enough cost to be affordable, and go with that. If you have to be able to take it apart too, that costs engineering time, and engineers like crazy stuff like food and paying their bills. I wish there was a good way to be repairable and affordable for everyone, but that platform hasn't emerged yet. The Sovols seem to get close to repairable enough for most things, but there's a bunch of adhesive in strange places with them too.
