The Great Pyramids of Giza Explained | How Were They Built? #history

How did ancient Egyptians build the Great Pyramids of Giza more than 4,500 years ago? The Great Pyramid of Khufu remains one of the most extraordinary monuments ever constructed. But behind its enormous stones lies an even more fascinating story—of workers, engineers, quarries, boats, mathematics, logistics, religion and a civilization capable of organizing construction on an enormous scale. In this documentary, we travel back to the Giza Plateau during the Fourth Dynasty and examine how the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure were built. We explore the Great Pyramid's original appearance, its internal passages and chambers, the purpose of the pyramid complex, ancient Egyptian funerary beliefs, and the archaeological evidence surrounding the monument. We also examine the Heit el-Ghurab workers' settlement, where archaeologists found evidence of organized workers, craftsmen, administrators, food production and large-scale provisioning. One of the most fascinating pieces of evidence comes from the Wadi el-Jarf papyri, including the logbook of an official named Merer. His records describe the transportation of limestone from Tura toward the construction site of Khufu's pyramid at Giza. But there are still unanswered questions. How exactly were the largest stones lifted? Which ramp systems were used? How was the enormous structure organized from bottom to top? And what lies inside the Great Pyramid that we still don't fully understand? Modern science has already revealed something remarkable. In 2017, researchers using cosmic-ray muon imaging detected a large previously unknown void above the Grand Gallery, now known as the ScanPyramids Big Void. Its exact purpose remains unknown. We will also look at the Great Sphinx, Khafre's pyramid, Menkaure's granite casing, archaeological discoveries, religious evidence, Qur'anic and biblical references to Egypt, and the modern claims that attempt to connect the pyramids with extraterrestrial civilizations. But throughout the documentary, one distinction remains important: What do we actually know—and what are we only guessing? This is the story of the Great Pyramids of Giza.
