Here's a tip. If you wanna pronounce the name of the city (or province) the right way say it like that: K-beck. Forget how it's written down.

Ive been to old quebec a couple times (Im Canadian from Ontario), the last time was december 2024. Me and my wife love it. I particularly love it in the winter, before Christmas is amazing. The food is the best we've ever eaten....every restaurant we ate at is 5 stars in our books. Speaking french is not a must, but helps (Im biligual, my wife is not). We highly recommend it...and we're going back again this year, December 2025. 🙂

The comment about lowering your voice cracked - me - up! I studied at the Petit Séminaire, a college located in the Old Quebec (with a view of the Château Frontenac from our library windows), and I lived in the school's residences, which were right next to a youth hostel. When the school trips started in the Spring, we could hear the English conversations all the way to our rooms because they were so loud!

This guy knows what he’s talking about. We vacation there every summer for 25 years. Café BUADE does not need reservations and serves everything. Food is amazing. Chateau de la Terrasse on Dufferin Terrace is right outside the walls of Frontenac. it overlooks the St. Lawrence. It’s extremely reasonable old style pension hotel.

This guy gets it ......some nationals and religions didn't treat the French well in the past and manners are instilled in French people

Love this, also FYI, if you are heading out to Montmorency Falls, also visit Ile d'Orleans, its the island just outside the city and they have excellent wineries, cideries, cheese farms, maple shacks, chocolateries, and bakeries.

Thanks. Watching after-the-fact, just got back from visiting. I start in English just to not mislead people into replying in French. I do apologize quickly for not speaking French and thank them for their English. There is another waterfall southwest(?) of the city that’s also a good visit (we did both). The whole area was fantastic!
