Roscoe Tanner utilized his serve technology before it was taught. The athletic science followed the application in tennis.

There too many people who comment on these videos who seem to think there was no tennis before Federer, Djokovic or Nadal.

Amazing how his left arm is dropping so early when tossing!

I played practice sets against Roscoe when we both were teaching tennis in Vero Beach, Florida. He was in his early 50s, and I was in my mid-30s.

Even at that age, his slice serve was challenging to handle. Not only was it hit with pinpoint precision, but it had a unique mix of spin and speed. I've faced many tough slice serves, but his was the trickiest to handle.

If Roscoe had been in better physical condition, he’d have won a lot more.

You know, the key to any tennis stroke is perfect timing and perfect distance from the ball mixed up together. Tanner's serve proved such unorthodox style on the serve was simply superb because his mix whose above on this stroke was simply perfect

Great serve action. Thanks for the upload. He would have been 10 miles faster with current racquets probably.

Very similar mechanics to Krajicek's serve, except Tanner's was a lefty serve.
