  Lots of holiday homes use these key safes,I’d never rely on one for my home though.I never did think they were very secure and now I know they arn’t.😅

  They are very common in over 50’s retirement villages and the code is recorded with the ambulance service in case the occupant is responding.

  It's also sometimes possible to open this type of low cost (cheap and nasty) lock using your ears. As you turn each dial there's a slightly different sound that the 'click' makes when it reaches the correct digit on each dial. When you hear the different click sound, move on to the next dial. Works on briefcases, padlocks etc too. You can also 'feel' the difference through a sensitive finger. I occasionally open (then reclose) a locked cabinet in our local DIY store to select and then purchase a high value item rather than waiting 10 minutes for a member of staff to open the cabinet. The store is too noisy to hear the tiny difference in the clicks but I can feel it, through a finger really subtly as each dial is turned.

  Thank you, Piklok! The procedure worked just as you said. I purchased a brand-new key safe for just .50 cents at a yard sale. The previous owner lost the combination to it. I watched your tutorial, and now I have a new working key safe. Greetings from México.
