Frances McDormand. One of the most awarded actresses in history. She's so good in everything.

The real tragedy is the son. His mom and grandpa dead. His dad in jail because of it

Jerry told the kidnappers the ransom was 80,000 and they'd split it 40,000 each. Then he told Wade, his father in law, that they were demanding a million, and Jerry was going to pocket the 920,000 difference. That's the biggest reason he wanted to make the delivery, so he had a chance to take the money before he dropped off the 40,000 for the kidnappers.

The side story with Mike the guy that lies about the death of his wife is the key to have Marge go back and talk to Jerry.

Jerry embezzled from the car dealership by billing for nonexistent cars which is why the factory is breathing down his neck.

There are a million quiet jokes in this movie, but my favorite is that when one bad guy smashes a window, the other one just comes in the door. Unlocked. Showing that they're inept and ones way worse immediately

The woodchipper, together with faux leg and foot, is in the city museum in Fargo.

NOT based on a true story. The Coens pranked the whole world.

Hey it’s my accent. My friend’s girlfriend from out of state said we all talk like this movie here in Minnesota and we all denied it and laughed. Years later, I finally admitted to myself that we really do sound like that at times

The Coen brothers showed more respect to the victims of a fake story than most films for real true crime

The landscapes are definitely a star of this movie. The locales are really beautifully shot.
