  Story 3: I hate that people in the crowd were giving OP dirty looks. I hate the whole surprise public proposal thing in general, because it forces any unwilling partner into an unwinnable position. Either you say yes and give them false hope, or you say no and risk nastiness from onlookers.

  Even if you are dating each other, you should always discuss marriage before proposing, period. The time and place of the proposal should be a surprise, not the proposal itself.

  Story 2: she threw a glass at him. Divorce. That&apos;s abusive and anyone willing to physically hurt their partner no matter if they&apos;re angry or not is not a relationship anyone should be in.

  Speaking as someone who has been in poly relationships before, the &quot;open relationship&quot; stories often miss a very fundamental part of a relationship. COMMUNICATION!! If you can&apos;t communicate your wants and needs in a healthy and constructive way in a monogamous relationship, &nbsp;theres no way you can handle an open/ poly one. Relationships require work and if you have more than one partner you have more to work on. You can&apos;t just spring something like this on a partner, its a huge change and commitment some people just don&apos;t want.

  You can absolutely still cheat on your partner while in an open relationship and that guy was totally cheating. Doesn&apos;t really matter if they were in an open relationship or not, the fact that they were being so secretive and sneaky about it would mean that the guy&apos;s wife was also keeping the secret and that&apos;s very unlikely.
