Spent the last 1 1/2 yrs cleaning out my parents home when they passed. <br>I’m cleaning out my house now so no one will need to do this for me!

Before I retired, I sold my vacuum cleaner as it was just gathering dust in the house.

I spent a lifetime building my house into what it is today and it’s full of my families memories. It’s been paid for for years and it’s set up to function for me. I’m staying put.

We sold our house and downsized to a ranch. Then after 3 years decided we wanted a condo. No condos available so we moved to an apartment next to the condo building we wanted. Banked the money from the sale of the house till the condo came on the market. Bought the condo and banked a bunch of money. When the kids come into town, we get them a hotel room for the few nights they come in a year. Super low expenses, virtually zero maintenance and we feel like we are on vacation. We walk to almost eveything in town, so we also sold the 2nd car. We get a Lyft ride when needed.

Having nothing makes it easier on your kids when you pass, but having things you use and enjoy is what makes retirement so much fun. Each his own.

How do people downsize anymore? Yeah, i won't need 5 bedrooms and 3.5 baths, but any smaller house I look at costs the same or more as my not-updated house 🤔

After 50, time isn't just money-it's *leverage*. Waiting to act on retirement, investments, or debt can cost you 10x more than mistakes. The math doesn't lie, i believe investment is the key to sustaining your financial longevity, i pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life too.

I sold my car about a year after retiring. I noticed that we were mainly using my wife's full sized car because it was easier for her to get into and out of. I was starting to go nuts trying to figure out how to use mine enough to keep the battery charged a the motor and tires properly exercised. It was a relief to not have to deal with that anxiety any more.

We moved to a much smaller house, which involved getting rid of a life time of stuff, hard work and stressful at the time but now we are just so thankful that we did it.

Thanks for a good video! I will soon turn 70. I retired from my main IT job one year ago. I am still having my side job as a bus driver, and can work as much as I want. I am in the process of getting rid of 80 % of my belongings before I turn 80. I recently terminated a costly storage space. Renting my relatively small apartment. No car. Can spend a lot of time and money on traveling. So far I have been to all continents, including Antarctica, and to 60 countries.
