This is the first time I've heard an explanation of card counting and understood it immediately. Such a simple, clear explanation.

21 is such an underrated movie that captures Vegas pretty damn well

The fact that casinos discourage high skilled players is evidence that casinos prey on low skilled players.

He made it sound so much easier than I thought it was.

I always root for the card counter. I hope they turn out the casinos lights. I know, a casino doesn’t force people to come. Gamble, but they prey on people. If you work in a casino, you know when people are in trouble and cannot stop, yet they allow people to continue killing themselves

One of the few times where I actually know who the speaker is before watching. MIT Mike

I was in Vegas last December. Almost all black jack tables now pay 6:5 on a black jack. You *might* be able to find some tables that will pay 3:2, but the bet minimums are quite high just to sit at those tables. I've been to Vegas probably a dozen times or more in my life, but my trip in December will be my last one. I never even sat at a table to play the game. Vegas already has an edge on the player and I felt like every place I stopped to visit...the casinos, the sites, etc., tried to squeeze every dollar out of me they could. I will not be going back to visit Vegas again.

Absolutely love the movie 21. First watched it in my high school Statistics class back in 2010.

intriguing and so ballsy to actually go for it and then pull off

The movies make this seem a lot more exciting and sure fire. If you have a deep enough bankroll and do it perfectly and don't get backed off, you can increase your advantage to like 2%. So start with one million and profit 20k.

And the whole thing is tedious to do, and a run of bad luck can drain it all away.

Always impressed by this group, that they took it so far. Noticed he didn't cover how they disposed of the cash! He's right, tho, long-term, the casinos will not allow continued winning. I spent years developing a sports ranking and handicapping system, was a lot of fun but ate so much time. It showed promise and an 'investment' tool, so I put it to work. Bettign online which wasn't yet legal here ... over the course of a season, I 4x'd my money and it wasn't a fluke, I have wagered my money more than 60x. I cashed it out, and it was paid. And then the phone calls started ... sales calls trying to pressure me to come back and 'play' other games. Over this small amount? They are chasing this money? They aren't suckers, obviously!
