Maureen, I love that you have the courage to give your honest opinion!! Refreshing!! With so many people who just “go with the flow” & follow everyone else, I am thrilled you are out there doing what you do!! Thank you!!
Keep sharing your great videos!!

My husband thought I was out of my mind spending as much as I just did on a new higher end machine, until he tried it out. He said it’s like driving a luxury car. You don’t really need it to get from point A to B, but it’s sure a nice ride. I couldn’t agree more. 😂

Maureen is such an honest person. She owns a quilt store, and she's telling us not to buy stuff!

The YT Quilters that bother me the most are the ones that don't press their fabrics before initial cutting. I can't get through their videos because messy fabrics drive me nuts. Then there are the ones that don't press and square up while making the blocks, another pet peeve for me. These are things that will teach newbies how to fail

I think the worst thing in quilting are the words "perfect" and "exact"...when I started quilting I watched so many videos that used those words a lot. Perfect quarter inch. Perfect matching. Exact points. I was so discouraged since I couldn't reach that level I wanted to give up and throw away everything. One day I decided to see and have fun and not worry about those two words. So I did. Lo and behold my seeing improved since I didn't have as much pressure on myself.

I found seam guides to be an asset when eye sight is an issue. I use the stacked tape Karen Brown uses and it is slick.

Loved this episode! I too have said the same things about many of the influencers on YouTube who are inadequately "teaching" our new generation of quilters. I love MODA fabrics!

I keep an old pill bottle by my machine for dead needles. I unscrew the lid, clearly I have been doing it wrong.😂

I just watched "4 at a time" flying geese units and they all end up with the straight grain on the outside. A real time saver! I love your Monday videos and that Moda fabric bundle is beautiful.

This video encouraged me to start thinking about the macro changes in quilting. I started quilting in about 2000 and was very active until 2010. I became very active again about 3 years ago, when I decided to finish a quilt acquired in a 2003 shop hop. I really noticed lots of changes. Here is my list.
1. Internet resources available now. Enough said.
2. Most of the focus in 2000 was in making "sample block" quilts. "Yellow Brick Road" was a revolutionary pattern for us.
3. "Designer fabric" wasn't really a thing back then, unless you were Jinny Beyer.
4. Shop hops were locally organized, a lot more fun, and I am sure, a lot more work for the shops. So were the "Once a Month" block clubs, because you got (usually purchased) real resourses for making quilts, planned by the local shops.
5. Quilt shops come and go. None of the shops I went to in 2005 are still around, but there are new ones.
6. Quilting fabric colors and designs go in and out of style. My stash from 2000 to 2010 is, generally, really hard to match with current fabric styles.
7. Pre-cuts were not available back then. I think jelly rolls were the first, around 2000's but I never heard of them until now.
8. Managing your stash and scraps was a new concept for me. The notion of managing scraps by cutting fabrics into 2 1/2 inch strips was ridiculous because there weren't or few patterns for quilts using 2 1/2 inch strips. Now I have dozens downloaded.
7. Making quilts from scraps to use up scraps... never heard of doing that until now. I have made several.
8. Long arm quilting has revolutionized quilting. I never saw one in a shop back in the 2000s. Now most quilt shops have them chugging away on customer's quilts, and I have a sit-down long arm in my basement.
9. There are a lot more tools and notions available, and a lot more discernment is needed to decide they will be effective.

That's all for now.

Funny to see the "knee lift" as a new machine feature. When I learned to sew on a Singer in 1968 in school, the machines all had a knee lift. I guess what's old is new again! I like the Moda bundle.
