  Well, about “krasnyj”. In Proto-Slavic, the standard word for the color red was (*čьrvenъ, originally referring to the red dye made from čьrvь. Russian diverged because it had another adjective, красный- krasnyj, from Proto-Slavic *krasъ, it means beauty, so in old russian, krasnyj meant ‘beautiful’, while červenъ was the usual color term. Between the 14th–16th centuries, krasnyj underwent a semanticshift: beautiful, beautiful-colores and then red. So it gradually replaced červenъ as the basic color word. But russian still has the old root in the word červljonnyj (червлёный), used today mainly like in elevated style (old books styler), especially in heraldry and some technical or historical contexts

I am polish and I remember googling the etymology of kundel and it indeed is an old word from proto germanic that in modern german is Hunde. Draga just knew it by ear.

  I’m not new to compliment the Bulgarian girl for her beauty and charisma, but here I want to praise her culture. <br>You, Ilyana, made the Slavic videos my favourite ones for that reason above all, and it’s weird because I’m Italian and not interested at all in learning the Slavic languages. I really love how you dissect every word, how you find similarities between different languages and even between different words inside the same language.<br><br>I had to stop the video at <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LQbDmxPQWs&amp;t=575">9:35</a> when you said you may seem a geek: absolutely not, and thank you for every cultural note you add to the content.

  Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian girls almost didn&apos;t talk. There are so many similar words even though they are pronounced differently. Actually, except Polish in some cases, almost all Slavic words are understandable even without a context
