They should teach all of this stuff in school, then college and Uni as a mandatory unit.

I’m always at a loss as to why all pensions are not connected on a database connected to your NI number this would allow easier tracking / managing of old pension accounts

Thanks Toby, worth mentioning If you're thinking of consolidating old workplace pensions into your current pension, just make sure you won't be losing any special benefits they may have. Some older schemes, for example, might allow you take the pension earlier than 55 which you might want to take advantage of. Always check before consolidating.

I don't know why I watched this since I'm from Switzerland. But it was pretty interesting to see how similar our pension system is to the UK, we have very similar rules.

Excellent video and timing.

I started contributing to a pension in 1996 aged 28 and retired in 2019 aged 51. Was able to then draw from my sipp at age 55.

The UK has the most generous tax shelters in the world (to my knowledge). It's definitely worthwhile for your future self to spend time today finding out how they work.

Maybe it's just me but when I (hopefully) retire my pension should be worth twice as much as my house instead of being worth less than my house. Rather have a small house and a big pension than the other way around.

The default funds are also under the microscope of the chancellor wanting them to invest more in the UK via things like the UK development fund. Was just the boost I needed to change my allocation
