Bought a new R75/5 in 1973. Was in the service, 19 years old. Not exactly the demographic of who was riding a BMW. Kept the bike for 20 years. Best memories of my life.

I bought my first BMW boxer over 20 years ago. I heard all the crap about it being an "old man's" bike, too expensive, not enough performance, etc. So I left the brand and owned several Hondakawayamasuki bikes. Eventually I went back to a BMW boxer. There is something about them that I just love. Easy to maintain. Built like a tank.

My daily rider is a 1991 BMW R100 I've turned into a semi ADV bike/back country cruiser. I'm only 25 but I grew up riding Honda's and other Japanese bikes but always was drawn towards the older boxer motors design as I thought it was so weirdly gorgeous with that massive engine casting and heads sticking out. Years later I now daily ride this 1991 and it's been an absolute blast. The BMW doesn't do anything really incredibly compared to other bikes at the time like the CX500 turbo, or the hayabusa or the CBX1000 etc. but what it does do is enable you to ride every day no matter the weather and anywhere in the world knowing it will just keep on going and repairing it is incredibly simple.

Kevin‘s description of the “freedom giver” that the motorcycle became to many men, starting back in the 50s, and how he described how it fed a fantasy thought-process along the lines of taking one’s toothbrush and a few necessities and just go and become one’s true self somewhere far away, is absolutely profound! Equally profound are Mark’s concise and pinpoint accurate words in regard to how the motorcycle and motorcycling is a primal form of self expression and self image. You guys’ insights into this whole “thing of ours” is truly astounding. It’s remarkable on every level; from the technical aspects you cover to the engineering end of things and every corner and nuance of the industry in between. In my opinion - and I am certain that many enthusiasts on here would agree - you and your supporting crew behind the scene should be recognized through some type of meaningful award for this phenomenal and life enriching podcast series.<br>From Southern California by the sea ~ Bravo, and Ride Forever! 🦅

I have owned my 1994 K1100RS for 32 years since I bought new. Still looks and runs like new too. Treated myself to my first boxer 3 years ago with the R18. Awesome bike dripping with character.

I am the proud owner of a 1988 BMW R100GS yellow black Bumble bee , had it 26yrs. Owned heaps of early brit bikes, several Harleys and road raced a XR1000 Mckintosh In BEARS NZ.The BM airheads have a big following around the world.Tons of good parts available & upgraded parts like driveshafts Brakes etc. AIrheads are timless bikes that will just keep on rolling forever. just think those old BM supercharged racers going back to 30's. My BM is the longest I have ever owned a bike😊.

I’m currently a R12 rider and have had many Bmw’s in the past Mexico to Canada to the Yukon to Alaska Mexico, and not a moment of grief. How much better can it get?
