Marine hautnah: Kommandoübergabe Fregatte SACHSEN-ANHALT - gelebte Marinetradition mit Militärmusik

Change of Command on the Frigate "Sachsen-Anhalt" Wilhelmshaven - On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, Captain Volker Kübsch, Commander of the 4th Frigate Squadron, transferred command of the frigate "Sachsen-Anhalt" from Commander Daniel Läzer to Commander Benedikt Eichhorn. "During my two exceptionally fulfilling years as commanding officer, the 'Sachsen-Anhalt' has secured a firm place at the table of 'deterrence and defense' through participation in NATO BALTOPS exercises and UNIFIL deployments; "Through naval diplomacy, missile firing exercises, and the first-ever firing of a ballistic missile by the German Navy, this achievement was hard-won," summarizes Commander Läzer. "This was made possible by my crew, who accepted every mission as a close-knit fighting unit and fulfilled it with impressive professionalism. My gratitude to my crew goes hand in hand with my deep respect for the families, friends, and loved ones who, with each of the more than 370 days at sea, bore the true cost of our high level of operational readiness," he continues. Commander Läzer is transferring to the Naval Command in Rostock as a policy advisor in the Strategy and Planning Department. Commander Eichhorn is familiar with the Type 125 frigates, having commanded the frigate "Rheinland-Pfalz" since last year. With the Baden-Württemberg-class frigates, the German Navy now has a total of four of these modern warships. The newly designed frigate type is geared towards stabilization missions and maritime surveillance.
