"Nobody Told Me To Kill My Wife" — Then They Pulled His Car's GPS

On December 2, 2022, deer hunters near Riceboro, Georgia found a woman's torso in a ditch beside a dirt road, on the edge of a hunting club. Next to it: a knife, a plastic container, bloodied wipes. Over the next five days the rest of her was found across three miles of swamp and woods, in two counties — in pieces, some of them buried. No missing person's report matched. She went into the files as Jane Doe. The state published a forensic sketch, and one of the hundreds of calls came from a woman in Virginia who said the sketch looked remarkably like Mindi Kassotis, the current wife of her ex-husband. Genealogical DNA took five more months. On May 11, 2023, Jane Doe got her name back. The next day her husband was arrested in Lancaster, Pennsylvania — living under a new name, Nicholas Stark, married for the third time. This is the interview recorded in Georgia days after they brought him back. He is a lawyer. Ten years a Navy prosecutor. Before anything else he is read his rights and signs the waiver, and for the next hour and a half he never once asks for a lawyer. Everything wrong with his story, he says, belongs to an FBI agent named Jim McIntyre — a man the bureau, the court and his own defense could never produce. The detectives do not argue with the story. They let him tell all of it, and then lay the records on top: the car's telematics, the pings from a switched-off phone, a camera on a dirt road, a knife bought on a debit card, a marriage license, two resignation letters. In August 2025 a Liberty County jury found Nicholas Kassotis guilty on all twelve counts. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus twenty-five years. 00:00 "Nobody told me to kill my wife" 00:30 The case 01:26 His rights, and the dog 02:14 The doctor's office 06:07 They said she had passed away 09:32 Your car has a phone 11:12 "I saw my wife on Saturday" 11:39 Beyond the preponderance 12:56 "Your DNA" 13:32 "Sir, Jim absolutely exists" 14:18 The $32 million 14:54 Died while pregnant 16:07 The big question is why 16:39 A medical certainty 17:07 "You killed her" 18:01 The knife 19:11 It's easier to remember the truth 20:22 There was no house 21:08 The stops on the map 21:55 It's no longer if 23:41 Jump off a cliff 24:53 The marriage license 25:40 $5,000 for the ashes 26:35 "Your life's a lie" 27:14 "I never put a hand on a woman" 28:30 The resignation letters 29:46 One thing stood in the way 31:38 Until the beginning of this 32:31 "You didn't protect her from yourself" 34:09 The verdict Source: publicly released recording of the May 2023 Georgia interview of Nicholas Kassotis, via Bloodline Interrogations.
