The only people who have ever played the hotel Transylvania game are Arlo and the Pikmin dev team.

The fact that you collect garlic to upgrade your total pikmin count is a clear homage to Hotel Transylvania 3, obviously.

This is subtle foreshadowing to the fact that Adam Sandler is gonna play Olimar in the Pikmin Movie

There is another more plausible possibility. The Pikmin dev went on the internet to see what people were requesting of the game on-line, and found the unofficial ambassador for pikmin on Youtube (a certain blue puppet) talking about possible additions for the next game

We not gonna talk about how the bases in this game look exactly like lumiknolls and are only seen at night

At this point, you can probably reach out to the team at Did You Know Gaming to see if they have any connections to this studio. I bet this Pikmin-lovimg dev would love to chat with you

One other thing Arlo didn’t even mention, Hotel Transylvania has some side missions, like finding “werewolf pups” and Arlo specifically said “I think Pikmin could use stuff like that, little side missions and the like”

Hmmmmmm sounds familiar…..
