So I picked up straight away that it was a taxi cab ride, which on first hearing thought it was going to the airport, but then listened again and realized that she was going to the Ritz, from the airport. I did not know the terms for flat rate, but figured the discussion was about how much it was going to cost, how long it would take and his quote mentioned that the time would take depending on if there wasn't too much traffic. I remember the word bouchons from another Bootcamp. At the end he asked if he could help her with her luggage. I totally missed the bit about the flat rate having been around since 2016, but otherwise, it was pretty clear.
A demain!

It felt like I took a step back today, I didn't grasp a single thing apart from one or two isolated words. I'll try again tomorrow with hopefully better results.

What I notice about my brain is that one part hears the sounds and another part tries to make sense of the sounds. But if I just listen to the sounds and write the sounds, I generally get the word correct, even tho I don’t know the word. When I try to write what I think it is, I’m really off. It’s a weird process of trusting my brain. 🧠

I got in a bit of a mess with that one. I realised she was going to the Ritz but then heard 'pour' the airport instead of 'depuis'. I was then not at all sure what was going on as the vocabulary and phrases got me beaten. I'd never heard - 'la course est facturée', 'c'est pas facturé au compteur before'. I then picked it up and understood the rest. It was a very good test

Well, after feeling pleased with myself after the previous 5 lessons, this one was a big reality check. I immediately understood the context, but like others, I thought the ride was to the airport via the Ritz! In reality, however, I’m sure I would have been OK by asking the taxi driver to repeat the incomprehensible phrases and by pointing at the meter. As you have said to us, in real life we can fill in the blanks with gestures and visual aids. initially, I was knocked back by this lesson, but on reflection it is important to be challenged rather than sit comfortably with easy French. Thanks again Lexie

I could have listened all night and not heard 'depuis deux mille seize'. I had 'puis moosays' which I knew was not quite correct. Otherwise, I got the gist and a few words were clearer after the 3rd or 4th listen. I find I can get the gist without understanding every word. I notice quite a few important words at first and that helps.

This was like a big reality check for me. I feel like I'm stuck because I missed large chunks of this mostly because I just didn't know the vocab. So not only was it too fast, but if I don't even know the words they're using, it's a double whammy. The terms involving the meter, the rate, etc were totally new to me, although I got the overall context about needing a taxi to the Ritz from the airport. How am I ever going to get better if I simply don't know the vocab? It's like being between a rock and a hard place. I feel so stuck.

Picked up on the taxi immediately but didn't catch the destination, or why it wasn't the metered price. But got most before the transcript, at which point it all made sense. Not too bad as it's not a subject I'm familiar with, and I'm not using the pdf as reference. So, onward to the last day, and then what? I've done the 25 day from last year, and now the 7 day. Perhaps you've done another 25 day I can do. Momentum is important for me.😊 Bon weekend.

Probably the hardest - tried headphones for the first part and stopped
Took 10 further listens...
lots of successful guessing in the transcription
failed to understand (badly transcribed) depuis les reports, ça forfait fixe,
So apart from the location, I actually got the full meaning

Most of my issues were around the use of "facturé(e)" as I know the word "facture" for an invoice in English but had never heard this word used in this way before. I thought he said "effectuer" which doesn't make any sense contextually, but that's what I heard. This one was definitely more difficult for me than the previous five.
