I remember a Vietnam War era first person shooter called Men of Valor where the death screen was a fully voiced reading of the letter sent by your character's commander telling his family that he died in the line of duty and how. It changes with each level, and you can tell that the performance was taking a toll on the various voice actors that did the reading. But the really morbid part was that after the first few missions you probably memorized the protagonist's service number.

The first one to come to mind is Majora's Mask in the Nintendo 64, specifically running out of time and watching the moon crash down. As a kid it traumatized me so much that I speant years being afraid to look straight up at the sky. I vividly remember the nightmares I had at the time. Still one of my favourite games of all time!

The Lion King death didn't hit that hard for me, but I suspect I was desensitised somewhat from watching the Prince of Persia enspikening himself with grim regularity

The "great and mighty poo" clip is to Outside Xtra mentioning Conker what the "clack clack" clip is to Max Miller mentioning hardtack.

That young Simba "death" is tame. I've seen worse passing out from a concussion sequences than that.

The lack of Chrono Trigger's "But the future refused to change..." disappoints me. It was simple, but haunting.
