My father-in-law served with the 3rd Army led by Patton. He had a number of German souvenirs and great stories.

Both Japan &amp; Germany both relied on a quick defeat that wouldn’t give America time to rearm they were both deadly wrong 🇺🇸<br>great episode!

Hitler refused to grant a military funeral to an officer that &quot;died after the war&quot; -- ? &nbsp; This is after Hitler committed suicide and leaves only a burned jaw bone before the end of the war? &nbsp;Ok...not sure how that works out in reality absent a time machine, but Ok.

well - Hitler refused him a military funeral after the war, when Hitler had already died himself. Logic blip here….

I feel like you are leaving out something very important. It was an ideology based on triumph of will. Every officer shaped the narrative to keep open the possibility of victory. Each rank and file soldier believing in an inevitable victory would make manifesting that outcome more likely. This is what Germany and Japan had in common; The victor would be the side with the greatest fighting spirit.

I briefly met Gen. Guderian&apos;s grandson at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He taught there. Btw/ the stress in the name of Gen. Model is on the last syllable (as in the American female name, Odell)

Read these 2 books by General Gahlen. The Service, and the General Was A Spy. Both excellent books on German WW2 intelligence.

The Allies were smart in trying not to kill Hitler. &nbsp; He was a terrible general (thinking he was better than the generals), strategist and leader the Allies let him lose the war for them.
