  Couple of years ago I was working in the mountains with my backhoe and noticed a 1983 SR5 two wheel drive parked under a tree at a house - it looked pretty clean and not beat up, but wasn&apos;t being used. I talked to the owner and he said it had belonged to his deceased brother and had been parked for about 25 years. He said it was running fine when parked but that he&apos;d tried to get it running after sitting about ten years, and couldn&apos;t. He rebuilt the carb and still couldn&apos;t get it going so it stayed there. <br>I asked him if he&apos;d be interested in selling it and he agreed to trade me some backhoe work for it Trailered it home and found the tank full of Schmuk and rust holes on top from condensation. He had sucked the bad gas and rust into the carb, so I replaced the tank and filter, blew out the lines, installed a Weber carb, and changed the oil. It started right up and ran fine. I&apos;ve since replaced the brakes, tires, clutch master &amp; slave cylinders. everything works except the A/C - need a new compressor and refrigerant conversion kit. Today it&apos;s my daily driver with 147,000 miles. My wife hates it but I love it.

  The fact that you didn&apos;t check ANY of the fluids and just hooked up a battery and crank it blew my mind.

  I feel old saying the thing but they just will never make vehicles as cool as this again. No safety beeps, no lane assist, no TPS sensors just the bits you need and some very cool graphics that make you look back at your car every time you park it. This one sounds like a beast with the exhaust too! Mad truck mate!

  ahh the good ole days. When replacing the fuel pump wasn&apos;t 8 to 10 hours.

  My dad had a 1983, which looked almost exactly like this one. &nbsp;It is what I learned to drive manual in.

  I had a 1980 in 2wd, same color and all. &nbsp;I still miss that truck and that was 40 years ago.
