no wonder there is a housing shortage.....people have their own houses and want everyone elses too. In my experience (45 years) (Not as a renter i may add) most private landlords are crap . This is usually down to the fact that they are opportunists.

I think rent control in UK is next so most of what you said about Scotland will apply to here and there will be little difference. You talk about cheaper areas being problem areas but alot of seperated people are only able to afford these areas after settling divorces. So when pensions are means tested which may be sooner than people think, then financial friction in marriage will see more divorces and more people seeking a small cheap property to avoid renting.

How on earth can you label “Scotland” as a single market? Believe it or not there are individual Cities in Scotland. Glasgow and Edinburgh capital growth is probably amongst the highest across the UK over the past 20 year period. Normally enjoy your content mate but this is pretty poor.
