I was John’s research assistant when I was in grad school. Great guy who is very passionate about his work. He made me a major Pound fan, and through him I got to correspond with Pound’s daughter and with Pound scholars from around the world. Great experience.

Hailey, Idaho, has done something fantastic as the world re-discovers an amazing intellect---flaws and all.

Dr. Gery, your insights into Pound's epic innovation—starting the Cantos in medias res with Odysseus' underworld voyage and weaving in kennings like "sun to his slumber"—really illuminated how he transforms classical sources into something vividly modern. In my retirement project V2Melody, I've set two of his poems, "Plotinus" and "In a Station of the Metro," to music, aiming to bring that same dynamic energy to life for audiences new to his work. Thanks for such a thoughtful exploration of his poetic legacy—it's inspired my own adaptations!

This is a fascinating and elegantly argued lecture. I had not known about Pound's grandfather. I admire the way John Gery creates his long and complex argument in a conversational tone without any academic jargon.
