The French Quarter is actually above the Mississippi. The French colonizers built there because it was the highest ground around.

I was born in Baton Rouge, 69 years ago, 90% of my life in the Baton Rouge area an Works aloha from the Mississippi River to the Atlantic upstate New York and over in Arkansas and Texas for a while but I am home. We’re on Louisiana. all the things you say about her is true, and then some you like to go to ugly day in Mamou, Louisiana, where they dress and all kinds of crazy garb and chase chickens on horseback well they chase them on foot, but they go from place to place on horseback just like the Mardi Gras celebration but it’s a second kind of celebration in that tradition with a beer can in the Hand pick up trucks full of beer, cans, music, playing loud, and Strangely dressed people going crazy having fun and used to be not nobody get hurt invested. Got run over by a float but now we got all the stupidity young people shooting at each other. Well I’m glad that I’ll probably be gone before it gets totally underwater. I’m glad I got to live here and ride my Harley Davidson still bless you all.

The mobile celebration was a new years event. The founders moved to new orleans and established a krewe and paraded on mardi gras. The first celebration of mardi gras in america was a french exploratory party on the banks of the Mississippi River south of new orleans, obviously no parades and short lived because the explorers moved on.

Mobile Alabama observes Mardi Gras, (Fat Tuesday) as an holiday because Mobile was the birthplace of "American" Mardi Gras instituted by Joe Cain. Few folks know this because of New Orleans being the larger of the two port cities and cultural oversight. Mobile was also the capital of Louisiana for 18 years between 1702 and 1720.

You should probably condense the list to about 20 because several subjects are redundant and only further elaborated and reiterated.
The Battle of New Orleans, although officially fought after the war had ended, further research brings to light that it was a far more significant battle and had greater effects than 1st thought. It was determined through British archives that their intentions were that although they knew they were losing the war that if they could secure New Orleans and control of the mouth of the Mississippi River that they could probably use that strategy and stronghold to revive the Empire's chances to control the lost Colonies and at the very least stifle their growth and power to compete both military and economically.
Not disparaging your video essay, thanks for featuring our Louisiana uniqueness.
