RIP John Blanche. He made the iconic painting in the thumbnail and without him we would not have modern grimmdark 40k art.

Battlefleet Gothic: where your average crew size is a small city, ships older than your religion and navigation that could only be described as hellish. 10/10 would praise the emperor..

I never played Battlefleet Gothic, but Blanche’s artwork of that red-hulled ship stuck with me for nearly 30 years. Rest in the Emperor’s light, Mr Blanche.

BFG is probably, in terms of ease and depth of gameplay, the best game GW has ever launched. Given their success rebooting Adeptus Titanicus and Necromunda, it's weird that there isn't a reworked edition of BFG with a whole bunch of supplements explaining the histories and livery of the other fleets of the Imperial Navy and their adversaries. As someone who lost his patience with core 40K long ago, I would buy the living daylights out of that.

One of the most terrifying short stories set in the 40K universe I've ever read was about a ship being eaten by a tyranid ship. The stomach acids dissolved the ship.... slowly... Imagine hearing the ship melt around you. It's like a submarine imploding but with acids strong enough to melt metal...

‘Mourning Star’ being the ship name in Darktide is pretty awesome

thanks for the links, been looking for them. BFG is the game that got me into 40k, and I still love my tiny space ships.
