This doesn't sound new. Ignore all phone calls and texts. Call back using the number on your credit card, statement or the bank's website. They'll tell you they didn't contact you.

Thank you. The mistake was at the beginning to not hang up immediately and call the bank to verify at the very beginning. the banks all say that they never call you.

The red flag is when he told her to click on the link and needed access to her account and go over the fraudulent charges. <br><br>Now why the EF would that be necessary? How did he know of the fraudulent activity if he needs access. That is completely stupid! I would be cussing and telling him off!!

She told the scammer she would call the bank and preceded to click a link he sent instead. Doesn’t sound to savvy to me.

She did not hangup and call back. <br>She did not do that.<br><br>The reporter is desperate to blame the bank, but the bank is not to blame.

If I got a call about a bank problem I would tell them I’d be there in 10 minutes and hang up.

I just watched this on the website for channel 4, this a shocking level of sophistication the scammers achieved what would we do without you. Best defense is never to answer calls from the bank or use the same passwords more than once.

This is worth watching. This is a new trend. The scammer manages to trick the phone company into injecting fake text messages into the chain of real messages from the bank. This is truly scary. The fake message joins the real messages.
