  To me I always say Murray was a 1 in a million talent against 3 who were a 1 in a billion. At his best he can beat them, no doubt, but tore his body apart in order to. Yet still has a career most would kill for, only looks small because of who he faced

  The title made me so mad I almost didn't watch (because I'd forgotten Andy himself was the one who said it).  One of the things that people don't realize is that Andy (and later Stan) added legitimacy to the game.  The Big 3 tore through everyone so consistently for so long that I've seen some people attribute their dominance to a weak field.  Andy is proof that was never the case.  in any other era, I believe the guy would've won 7+ slams and ended up in the same discussion as Lendl or Borg.  The fact that he was consistently so much better than the others but yet consistently still a cut below the Big 3 demonstrates how unbelieveable they were and how successful he could have been in any other time.  He may have deemed himself a clown, but clown shoes are notoriously oversized, and outside the Big 3, no other player could have possibly filled his.

  I grew up during that short window of time in the tennis world dubbed ”the Big Four” with Murray actively competing with Nadal, Federer, and Djokovic. I firmly believe that had it not been for his hip injury and surgeries, he’d have at least 10 slams and we’d still be saying the Big Four instead of Three.

  Fun fact: All four major tennis players won one Grand Slam in 2012, the only time in history.<br><br>Djokovic won the infamous 6 hour Australia Open final against Nadal, who would get his revenge in Roland Garros.<br><br>Federer won the Wimbledon against Murray, but Murray won the US Open against Djokovic.<br><br>Interestingly, Murray and Federer shortly later met at Wimbledon again for Olympic final which Murray got the gold and Federer silver. Djokovic finished fourth and incumbent champion Nadal withdrew due to injury.

  He had a ridiculous amount of pressure and scrutiny on him during Wimbledon, more than just about any sports person on the planet at the time.

  I think London 2012 was vital for Murray. He loses a heartbreaker to Federer in the Wimbledon final. 0-4 in GS finals. Usually you&apos;d have to wait a full year to exorcise those demons but with the Olympics he gets the opportunity just six weeks later to face off against the same opponent on the same court. Perhaps aided by Federer playing a marathon semifinal against Del Porto, Murray wins Olympic gold with ease he then carries that momentum through to NY for his first slam and then wins Wimbledon in 2013.
