Shout-outs to St. Lawrence. He gave two middle fingers to (what I assume to be) one of the most powerful men on earth during the time, donated all the churches riches to the poor, and had the fucking balls to shout out a joke as he was tortured to death. That man wasn't just given the title of a saint, he fucking earned it

The best part of the St Lawrence story is that, up until a few years ago, his annual feast day was celebrated outside the St Lawrence church in Florence with a communal BARBECUE.
-B

Ironically, that last guy who went, "I'm done on this side. Turn me over." would eventually become the patron saint of cooks. Nice to know the Vatican has a sense of humor.

I'm still in love with the fact that Roald Dahl's last words were "ow fuck"

This isn't a joke. My father died in 2014, his last words were 100% fitting to his personality. He was in a hospital bed and said "Fuck this shit hole fucking place." I was proud to be his son in the moment.

James Dean lived by the motto, " live fast, die young and leave a good looking corpse." By the account I read, his last words were, "that guy has to stop. He's seen us," in reference to the driver of another car. A few seconds later, the two cars collided, Dean's moving at a high rate of speed. In the end, he lived fast and died young, but his corpse was kind of a mess.

It should be noted St. Lorence is a patron saint of cooking. Which is wonderfully ironic.

It takes great strength owning up to your mistakes. I admire your bravery and courage to stand up and admit fault in front of billions of viewers. A man who lived in pursuit of personal growth, we'll write it on your tombstone.
