For my recent Bermuda cruise we were going to be at several beaches all day long. I didn’t want to leave my expensive hearing aids in the cabin because I can hardly hear without them. I tested a waterproof phone lanyard before I left to make sure it was truly waterproof. When I was ready to swim I took out my hearing aids and put them in the pouch. It floated along with me while snorkeling and my hearing aids stayed bone dry. I was so happy I had my hearing aids while we were eating lunch, shopping and taking the public bus back to the cruise ship.

The liquid hand soap was an absolute must for my autistic child. We completely forgot that he wouldn’t cope with the soaps available on board and cannot tolerate sanitiser at all. Luckily, we were able to pick up his regular hand wash at one of our first ports. We won’t be forgetting it for our next cruises!

Take 2 sponges - drizzle dish soap over one and laundry detergent over the other. Let them dry out and then cut them into 4 pieces. You now have 4 mini sponges to use for spot treating stains and you can wash your water bottles (or other items) in your cabin. Just put them in separate ziplock bags and label accordingly…

I appreciate the spirit of being prepared for anything, but after just returning from my first cruise, I can say I was way over prepared in every way after watching all of these types of videos. I was actually so stressed and fatigued from worrying about packing for the cruise, it took some of the actual enjoyment out of it. I could have survived with my ID, toiletries and a few changes of clothes just fine.

In case people don’t know, baby wipes are also very good stain remover. Last year, ON MY WIFE’S BIRTHDAY, of all days, I spilled espresso on my WHITE shirt. Baby wipes saved the day.

bring a small empty spray bottle and a few single serving bottles of plain, cheap vodka. when i get back from a hot days excursion i give the armpits and sweaty parts of my shirt a spritz to kill any bacteria that causes stink. if all you have is a pay laundry service this will save some bucks and give you freshened shirts for your trip.
