Him saying "I feel like crying for no reason, is that normal" should have been used as a gateway to explore his emotions and internal thinking. The teacher just dismissing it by joking around was infuriating to me.

Dean knew exactly what he was doing the way he was provoking Sam. Then he plays the victim when Sam responds and ultimately almost gets him suspended. The way his sister acted and the things his mother said... pretty clear Dean has a malicious side to him and knows exactly how to play it off. The two definitely have a very toxic friendship

Sam obviously has learning issues and mental health challenges no matter how mild that need specific focus that a teachers with a full class cannot provide and it is unfair to expect them to, for both themselves, the other kids and Sam. I feel sorry for everyone involved especially Sam.
