  I kind of like the idea that Celestia and Luna passed away at some point after Twilight’s ascension to the throne and their spirits became one with the sun and moon respectively, allowing them to move cyclically on their own.

  I know a way that Twilight could never die if she had lived forever on in the dreamscape, she could forever live as a being in the dreamscape

  even in the actual show, in the everfree forest, the sun and moon rise on their own, and it's mentioned, meaning, they just control it, but its fully capable of happening on it's own

  I think Twilight didn't die, if Opaline was  from celestia and luna times, i imagine twilight would still be alive, roaming around dreams, stopping nightmares and controling sun and moon, all of that somewhere, where she hides. Maybe a place we saw in g4, like the cave whe maud lived, or that cave below the canterlot castle, where she was locked wiith Cadance.

  I just love when theory channels like this come up with much better  writing material for these shows than the actual hired writers through sheer passion and logical thinking

  I know this is out of topic, but Twilight sparkle did not die. She just like if Luna has the power to put all the pony people ponies into a dream, I think she can make some magical of a crystal.😊

  I originally had this small theory that it may still be Celestia and Luna still. Celestia is over 1000 years old and didn’t show any signs of getting old anytime soon, My theory was that after they went away on retirement/vacation they lost track of time with being immortal and all and maybe due to them being away from Equestria they might of not know what was going on with Opaline and the lost magic, so if Twilight stopped activating the artifact they might of assumed that it just broke or that Twilight became to busy and just started rising the sun and moon like they used to. I like this theory mainly because it may mean that Celestia and Luna are still alive and maybe come back to rule, returning Equestria to what it once was 😭

  I think that a long time ago, maybe before the star swirl, the cycle of day and night was normal, but something affected him, maybe a magic that went wrong or a curse, then they tried to solve it but there was no plan to do the passage of the days manually but when the magic was sealed because of the jewel the spell ended and everything went back to normal
