my suggestion is to never give up and remember that this idea is sick and it needs to be made

megastructures are my favorite kind of structure

I like the enemy models a lot.
You could try adding a simple hit Vfx , something like a small star flash / sparks for hitting the mechanical enemies. + A hit sound
Also having weak points could be good if you want, or have breakable armor pieces that expose the weak parts.

Maybe add combat to wall climbing, or the ability to jump off large enemies to do interesting attacks.

There's absolutely a lot of potential here. The movement looks smooth, and schmooving through a megastructure absolutely sounds fun.

The robot enemies falling apart has a lot of juice potential. I'd try applying a bit of force to each of the gibs in the direction the player is facing (with some random fuzzing) so it looks like you send them flying by killing them. Shoving particle effects everywhere is also a great way to increase juice levels. At the very least the gun should make some sparks at the impact point and the muzzle. A trail for the sword would be good too.

IDK if it's common practice, but in my own projects, I've been experimenting with using multiple textures for a single material. The idea is that you have one smaller texture with fine details, and another bigger texture with broader splotches of color (or rather, they're the same resolution, but stretched to different sizes) then multiply them together in the shader. (shadergraph is your best friend for doing simple shader stuff in Unity) If you get the ratios of the two sizes just right, it becomes really hard to see where the tiling happens. It feels like that would look good for the big flat sections in your environments. There's probably a name for that technique you could use to find better explanations of it but IDK i'm just winging it lol.

Well, the solution to the juice problem can be adding a flash to the shot, a sound to it, same to the slash of the sword. When hitting something, give the place where hitscan hits a spark with a metallic sound. When robot falls apart, give all his part ragdoll and disassemble them. When robot dies make him leak black goo (like oil blood). When landing make some particles appear on the ground, same with wall-jumping. Add wind-like sound when falling from high up, also you can add energy charge up sound and particles when you hut enemies with a sword (cuz this is a super-nano-sword which sucks Energy out of enemies, totally not MGRR-ispired design)
Anyway, great video, I'm not expecting to get a reply, so... Love your work, man

I’ve been looking for a video like this ever since playing bleak faith! Keep going! Super interested in more details of how you build the worlds. It’s looking great - don’t be so hard on yourself this is impressive.

You could make the robots sliceable and add stabbing animations for their deaths.
Adding some battle damage would also help give the player a better visual understanding of the damage they're actually doing.
Love the video, keep going! Can’t wait to see what you do moving forward!
