About 35 years ago, a friend of mine and her adult daughter went to the mall to do Christmas shopping. It was in the evening, so it was dark. They decided that my friend would take the gifts to the car, and her daughter would go to the food court, order their food, and get a table.
My friend opened the trunk to put the shopping in. As she was slightly bent over, someone, presumably a male, shoved her into the open trunk. They grabbed her purse and whatever bags they could get, and took off. The assaulter got away, completely unnoticed. My friend yelled, but her screams were muffled by being face first in the trunk. She was physically unhurt but had anxiety ever after.

Stay safe out there!

I live in Boca Raton; it appears to be a quiet and conservative area with beautiful neighborhoods; yet looks can be deceiving; we must always be alert and cautious about our surroundings!
🙏🙏🙏

Don’t forget, Boca Raton has year round residents, snowbird residents and folk who get visitors for shorter periods of time ie: going to visit Grandma for a week or two.

I was born and raised in Boca Raton and have followed these cases since they happened. I’m also a longtime follower of Profiling Evil. Thank you Mike for covering this. It is extremely unnerving that the suspect continues to walk free!

This was not financially motivated at all. He may have wanted some pocket money which is why he made her withdraw some cash but she had a Rolex, a diamond tennis bracelet and earrings. How do I know this, because this was my son and my ex. The cops bumbled this and probably could’ve avoided Nancy and her daughter’s death. They didn’t believe her. They barely investigated. The article in the paper didn’t even say abduction in our case. God forbid “Boca” had some bad press. The detectives really pissed me off. My son didn’t know much about this until I just now, literally, was telling him the story over lunch. We were searching for the video on Americas most wanted that they did and we came across this video. Posted 2 days ago!! Crazy coincidence.

I think you're right about utilizing the true crime community. Many of us are invested because we experience crime or lost someone to it, but for many reasons we don't always report. There's a lot of information out there if people just ask the right questions and actively listen to the responses.

Ladies - always stay on high alert in mall parking lots. Walk out with groups of people if they are nearby - and always have your keys ready and lock your doors immediately. Mall abductions are not limited to Boca Raton.

I lived in Boca from 1991 to 1995 and went back to visit for several years thereafter, so it's really weird to hear about a possible serial killer targeting Town Center Mall. I practically lived in that mall when I was in high school and never had a worry about something like this. It was just safe in Boca, and that's when there were still a lot of everyday (non-elite) people living there at the time. I feel so terrible for the victims of this guy, and I hope somebody finds him to get justice for these folks and their families!

I was about 16 when this happened and now I live just 5 min from the Boca Mall. It still comes to mind often and still freaks me out. That guy could be anywhere and could be anyone. I can’t believe it is still unsolved.

For any women with small children, I know it’s not convenient nor easy, but when shopping alone with your child, one way to help avoid the unlocked vehicle while standing outside the vehicle securing the child into their car seat would be to get into your vehicle with your child, close & lock all doors then secure your child. My daughter is now grown but I know this is not the easiest way to secure a child into their car seat but it’s safest. Bring your shopping bags into your car with you & if you have to put them in the trunk, do so while parked in front of the mall while others are around. Town Center Mall now offers valet parking at the North entrance. I highly recommend utilizing it. These horrific crimes devastated the community. I worked half a mile from the mall for 12 years. My deepest condolences to the families affected. I’m so grateful Jane Doe & Baby Doe survived.

I don’t live too far from Boca Raton & I truly love this town, however it breaks my heart to pieces what transpired with these women. I go to Boca Raton Mall often. The case of the mother and baby girl who was murdered still breaks my heart to pieces. Awesome coverage. 😢
