  I want to comment that as an Indonesian expat in Thailand, the food here might be cheap but might not be as nutritious. Might not matter if you don’t care but as a guy trying to get in shape the food I order tend to have way more carb than protein. They may look and smell nice, but weigh the different macros on a scale and you’ll see what I mean. If you buy and cook in bulk you can easily make much healthier food with 50-80% of the cost eating out or ordering through Grab.<br><br>Also that $300-350 budget a month in Bali for food, and $1000-$1200 overall, is stretching it if you intend to eat lavishly or even just for a balanced meal. That $1 nasi goreng would be hard to find and would likely be a combination of being located in a rural area, mostly just rice with a lot of sauce, or in tiny portions.<br><br>The price of food has unfortunately adjusted to what tourists are spending especially in high density areas. You’ll have to be extremely familiar with the area to find cheap food. Hard to do unless you’re a local Balinese unless you already know people in the area.

  yeah the prices jumped indeed , even slightly for Viettnam . Still 800-900/month living expenses is a mad good deal considering it&apos;s at the beach haha

  I’m paying 7,000 Bhat, USD $210 a month Villa, 1 year Lease. Phuket, Thailand, 5 minute walk to Beach. Been here 16 months, just saying deals are here you need to look for them.

  Prices in indonesia are really different from a place to another, you can live with &nbsp; 400 USD in Aceh while you will need 1500 USD bare min. to live in a good place in Jakarta
