To me sports in school helps build respect for the people around you, sports in general help build respect for each other

The right amount of salt makes anything taste better

Something else helpful is to never refer to yourself as the thing that makes you salty. Instead of “I am a failure” say “I may have failed but I’m not a failure.” Instead of “I am a mistake” say “I made a mistake.” Better to feel guilt over what you did, than to feel shame in wrongfully thinking you are what you did.

Recently Ive been saying this to myself at the start of every Overwatch game I played; "You can not improve if you don't persist despite failure."

My time playing competitive ended with me peaking in barely diamond before quitting the game, vowing to never do comp again until I learned to control the emotional outbursts it would give me after each loss. Even if it was for things outside of my control, id still blame myself because I was the only constant in each game I played. Ive been geting better and being more kind towards myself.

I now understand that there are many aspects outside of my control. Instead of beating myself up about it and telling myself id never get emotional control back with this game, I try to focus on the things that went well even when its small. Maybe I'm being to stubborn with my hero choices? Become more comfortable with other heros. My dreams of becoming a pro stemmed from somebody I cared about telling me I couldn't and that I will never achieve it due to X, Y, and Z. They have been out of my life for years now, and I now have no reason to prove to myself of anyone about my capabilities.

Will I try comp again? Maybe. but only when I am ready, not on anyone else terms...

Sorry for the rant, the video got me thinkin a little to hard. good shit <3

I agree with Flats, I'd also prefer physical pain over tilt. As someone who used to do boxing, at least if someone gets a meaty cross on you, the brunt of the pain is over as quick as it got there. Sure you'll feel sore after, but the worst is over by the time you process it. Tilt just builds and builds and builds...
Basically, being on tilt is just gooning but anger LMAOO

I think physical sport would be just as bad. It's just that there's repercussions to acting out when everyone can see you. The anonymity provided by video games really shows you how many people don't have empathy or self worth as their default settings and it's kinda scary.

32:06 I can attest to the peak that is playing the same game on different screens, even if you are not even playing together. I remember hanging out with a friend in either early high school or our last year of middle school and we both played Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. He originally was only supposed to be there for a day, and somehow we ended up with him staying at my place for nearly a month, but it was one of the best experiences I've had gaming. We'd sit there and be like "yo watch this" and we'd have our laughs and help eachother out, and it honestly has been top 3 gaming experiences of my life, probably.

15:25 that's the best part about fighting games, flats. The CANT unmute the mic, there is no VOIP, so the only message you get is sent through the gameplay.

Its a small thing for me but I took a habit from fighting game commentator Sajam, and started to refer to the people on the enemy team as "my opponent" instead. Something about that que helps my mental in competitive games that I'm fighting an opponent and not an enemy.
